The practice

Look around at ordinary things — a cup, a chair, a wall. Consider that whatever you are made of is not confined to you: the same energy is in each of those objects, undiminished. Hold that while continuing to see them plainly as themselves.

What it works on

This is the reason underneath the previous dharana. There you assert that you are everywhere; here the text supplies why that is not merely a mood, and the practice becomes an observation rather than an act of will.

Notes

  • Done with the eyes open on real objects, this becomes available throughout an ordinary day.

Practise gently

Shoonyaka offers educational and contemplative material, not medical, psychological or religious authority. Nothing here diagnoses or treats any condition. Stop any practice that leaves you dizzy, frightened or unwell, and treat a strong reaction as a reason to rest rather than to push on.
