Keep this page visible during practice. Shoonyaka requests screen wake lock where supported; a locked device may delay the closing bell.

Before you try this

A stronger practice than the one before it. Approach it only once the slow version is comfortable, keep it brief, and stop if you feel heat, agitation or pressure in the head.

The practice

Sit upright. Instead of a slow continuous ray, imagine a brief flash moving from one centre of the body to the next — base, belly, heart, throat, brow, crown — pausing a moment at each. When it reaches the crown, stop imagining altogether and stay with whatever warmth is left. The text says what rises at the end is love.

What it works on

Where the previous dharana is continuous and slow, this one is discrete and quick. The ending is the unusual part: the instruction does not finish at the crown, it finishes in a feeling, and the visualisation is only there to arrive at it.

Notes

  • The final stage is the practice. If you run out of time, cut the ascent, not the resting.

Practise gently

Shoonyaka offers educational and contemplative material, not medical, psychological or religious authority. Nothing here diagnoses or treats any condition. Stop any practice that leaves you dizzy, frightened or unwell, and treat a strong reaction as a reason to rest rather than to push on.
